Chris is a native son of Wausau where he attended Cardinal Newman High School. While at Newman High he was a marginally impressive athlete who discovered a predilection for mathematics and statistics. This allowed to him to develop the interpersonal skills to confidently straddle the high school worlds of both jock and nerd, skills which continue to serve him to this day.
Following high school, Chris attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics along with a Masters in Healthcare Administration. It seemed his calling in life was clear: the exciting world of health insurance and benefits!
Chris’ career began with Wausau Insurance where he provided actuarial consulting services to multiple health insurance plans throughout Wisconsin and Michigan. He then narrowed his focus to the development and design of Managed Care Pricing Models in conjunction with servicing and providing consultation to Wausau Insurance’s self-insured business accounts.
Chris’ dream of changing the healthcare industry for the better led him to the Aspirus Health System. His achievements there included:
- Leading the hospital system’s orthopedic service line
- Helping develop Aspirus’ joint replacement and geriatric hip fracture programs
- Building Benchmarking and Productivity Models for the hospital system
- Developing business analytics frameworks to track daily statistical performance and implement predictive staffing models
- Creating base logic which drove Aspirus’ population health initiatives.
Chris joined Astia in 2018 and aims to take our team to new heights in 2019. When he is not working on refining the company’s operations he is busy developing new and innovative ways for Astia’s clients and partners to achieve greater savings on their healthcare expenditure.
While everything above may lead you to believe Chris spends all day in Excel files he is much more than a one-trick pony. In addition to his borderline obsession with Marvel and DC comics (don’t get him started on Captain America) Chris is passionate about the Wausau community and has proudly served in leadership positions with Wausau Child Care, Wausau Area Events and volunteer positions with North Central Technical College and United Way. Currently, he sits on the Board of Directors for the Woodson YMCA in addition to coaching youth football and baseball.
By far, Chris’ largest source of pride is his family. His wife Renee, son Eli (14) and daughter Brooklyn (10) are his world and constantly push him to be a better husband and father every day.
